Church of the Holy Rude

Our return visit to Linlithgow was very enjoyable, and the next time we sing is on Saturday 4th March when at 4pm we will sing Choral Evensong in the Church of the Holy Rude in Stirling, a few yards from Stirling castle.

Dating from the 15th century, the Church of the Holy Rude is the only church apart from Westminster Abbey still in active use that has hosted a coronation, when the infant King James VI (who was later also James I of England) was crowned there on 29th July 1567.

2017 season announced

The venues for our 2017 season have just been finalised, so including the last half of our 2016 season from this point forward our plans are listed below.  Other than our rehearsal weekend when there is no public access we'd be delighted to see you at one or more of our services, which generally start at 4pm, last under an hour, and contain glorious music!

From Palestrina to Rutter

On Saturday 17th March, RSCM Scottish Voices will depart slightly from the norm, and instead of taking part in a service our worship will take the form of a religious recital in the Church of the Holy Rude, St John Street, Stirling at 4pm.  This is an historic church close to the even more historic Stirling Castle.

Lasting no longer than a service would (i.e. around an hour) there is no charge for admission, although there may be a retiring collection for the church.

We will be directed as usual by Frikki Walker, however Richard Walmsley being unavailable on this occasion we're delighted to be accompanied for the first time by the exceptionally talented Geoffrey Woollatt, assistant organist of St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Glasgow, who will also play some organ music, demonstrating the fine instrument in this lovely building.
